André Gaastra of NewGround Law comments in the newspaper FD on a groundbreaking case about supervision and disciplinary law.

The Chamber of Accountants ruled that was acted ‘in violation of the fundamental principle of professional competence and care‘. André Gaastra of NewGround Law states that his client Pieter-Paul Saasen considers the ruling of the Chamber as a rehabilitation.

In the eyes of the Accountants’ Chamber, the accountant employed by the FIOD (investigation service of the tax authorities tracking down financial and tax fraud) ‘dealt far too harshly by using ‘heavy terms in his disciplinary complaint, including accusing the BDO accountant of lies. He should have used a different word choice here’, says the disciplinary judge.
